What is Meggles?

The Task

Journaling often feels like a blank page with no guidance, which can be overwhelming—especially for those struggling with mental health, self-awareness, or life transitions. Traditional apps focus on note-taking, not storytelling or emotional engagement.

Inspiration

Meggles was inspired by my close friend, Megan Morris, the kind of person who knows everything about you, but rarely shares her own story.

Two years ago, she sent me a 65-page document filled with chapters from her life. Each one was vivid—some hilarious, others heartbreaking—and each ended with a question I had to answer by texting her. It was like being guided through her memories, one message at a time.

That experience stuck with me. It made me feel closer to her than ever before, and it opened my eyes to how powerful storytelling can be—not just in writing, but in connection.

Meggles is a tribute to that moment. It’s a journaling app that invites users to explore their lives one story, one question, and one reflection at a time.

Prototype

Prototyping allowed me to bring my designs to life, test user flows, and gather feedback early. It was key in refining the app’s functionality and ensuring a seamless user experience before finalizing the design.

A Year Of You

At the end of your journey with Meggles, you’ll hold a book that tells the story of your year—your thoughts, feelings, images, and memories captured day by day.

With the phrase "Today is where your book begins..." on the cover and "The rest is still unwritten" on the back, this book becomes a timeless keepsake.

It’s a way to revisit and share the year you’ve lived, preserving the moments you’ll always remember.

Final thoughts

Salvem les Fotos was more than just a UX/UI challenge, it was a response to a real crisis, with real people behind every photo. Designing a tool to help volunteers and coordinators rescue and return damaged memories required empathy, clarity, and strong collaboration across disciplines. The result was a mobile-first, user-friendly platform that brought order to chaos and made a complex process manageable. This project deepened my belief in design as a force for good One that, when thoughtfully applied, can make even the most emotional and difficult tasks feel a little more human, and a little more hopeful.

Meggles taught me how to design with empathy, always keeping the user’s emotional journey at the forefront. By focusing on Megan’s personal experience, I learned the importance of creating a space where users feel seen and heard. I also discovered how crucial it is to iterate based on real-world feedback and ensure the experience feels authentic and engaging. This project has deepened my understanding of how design can create a meaningful connection and provide users with both purpose and reflection.
